Tubular Breast Deformity
Tubular breast deformity, also known as constricted breast deformity, is a congenital condition in which the breasts do not develop normally during puberty. Instead of forming a rounded and symmetrical shape, the breast tissue grows in a narrow, tube-like configuration due to tightness in the lower breast skin and connective tissue.
This condition can affect one or both breasts and may vary in severity. Common features include a narrow breast base, enlarged or puffy areola, higher placement of the breast fold, and uneven breast size or shape.
Tubular breast deformity is typically diagnosed through a physical examination by a healthcare professional, often a plastic or reconstructive surgeon. Imaging is usually not required unless other concerns are present.
Treatment is surgical and aims to reshape the breast, expand the constricted tissue, and improve symmetry. Depending on the severity, procedures may include release of tight tissue, placement of breast implants, fat grafting, and areola correction to achieve a more natural breast contour.
