Breast Lift Surgery
Breast lift surgery, also known as mastopexy, is a cosmetic procedure designed to raise and reshape sagging breasts. It does not significantly change breast size but instead improves breast position, firmness, and contour. The procedure is commonly chosen by individuals who experience breast sagging due to aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, or gravity over time.
During the procedure, a surgeon removes excess skin, tightens surrounding tissue, and repositions the nipple and areola to a higher, more youthful position. The breast tissue is then reshaped to create a lifted and more natural appearance. In some cases, breast implants may be combined with a lift if additional volume is desired.
Breast lift surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia. The surgeon makes carefully planned incisions, which may vary depending on the degree of sagging and the desired outcome. Common incision patterns include around the areola, vertically down the breast, or along the breast crease.
Recovery usually involves swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort for the first few days to weeks. Patients are advised to wear a supportive surgical bra and avoid strenuous activities while healing. Most individuals can return to normal daily activities within a few weeks, depending on recovery progress.
